WORKINC2024 – INCLUSION OF VET TRAINEES IN SMESTH ROUGH RESPONSIVE TRAINING PATHWAYS – Research on inclusion practices in SMES

Project Update – WorkINC: Over the past few months, our team in Turin, Italy, has been actively engaged in a research phase focused on inclusion practices within the country, with particular attention to the integration of VET (Vocational Education and Training) students in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

As part of this work, we carried out:

• Desk research on national strategies and approaches related to inclusion.
• An analysis of the current situation of inclusion of VET students within SMEs in Italy.
• The identification of best practices implemented by SMEs to foster inclusive environments.

This activity has been conducted within the framework of a transnational project and in close collaboration with our European partners. Teams in Greece, Poland, France, and Turkey have conducted the same research process in their respective countries to ensure a comprehensive and comparative understanding of inclusion strategies across Europe.

The results collected in Italy, together with those from the other partner countries, were shared with our project partner MOZAIK (Turkey). Based on these insights, Mozaik is developing an Inclusion Index, which will take the form of a questionnaire for SMEs. This tool will help enterprises assess their current level of inclusion and identify areas for improvement.

This collaborative effort marks an important step toward promoting more inclusive practices across European SMEs and enhancing opportunities for VET students in diverse workplace environments.
